CHILD PROTECTION DESIGNATED LEAD COURSE UPDATE
The course aims to provide advanced information on reporting strategies, policies and procedures. It also covers: how to make your working environment safe for children, including safe practices; what to do if you believe that a child is at risk; who to approach or report to; what actions to take and which legislation applies in this area.
It will look at the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Information Sharing, confidentiality, consent, prevent, radicalisaton and what we should expect from children’s social care and enable you to take on the role in your organisation.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Designated Safeguarding lead should undergo updated child protection training every two years.
This course is specifically designed for those who have previously attended a safeguarding lead training course and need to update their knowledge and skillset.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
You will learn:

Revisit the role and the responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead

Review changes in key legislation and guidance affecting the organisations service’s response to concerns about a child

state your own values regarding child abuse and explain the impact of these on professional practice

Review hurdles to staff reporting concerns and examine strategies of overcoming them

Understand barriers that stop staff working within a multi-agency arena and explore strategies of overcoming them

What action to take when informed of concerns about a child or young person

Identify ways in which a safeguarding lead can support staff

Review current and contemporary concerns through the use of case studies.

Primary schools neglect, children using sexually inappropriate behaviour/possible sexual abuse, domestic abuse, parental mental illness/fabricated illness by proxy, FGM, abusive staff-pupil relationships.

Everyone shares responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
If you hold a Designated or lead safeguarding role in schools and colleges then your training should be updated every 2 years.
Our Designated refresher training course will update your knowledge and further develop competence and confidence in carrying out your lead safeguarding role.
